If you missed this tour earlier this month, now is your chance to grab some mandarins before they’re all gone – and meet the farmers, too. Several mandarin growers open their orchards and farm stands to the public for a taste of this wonderful local citrus. See how mandarins grow while getting fruit direct from farmers. Most locations also offer crafts, mandarin-laced treats and fun activities to go with their fruit. For locations and directions, visit the website.

Get ready to snip! Once again, the Sacramento Rose Society needs volunteers to prune McKinley Park’s rose garden – more than 1,000 bushes – in just one morning. No experience necessary; public is welcome. Pruning demonstrations will be led by the society’s seasoned rosarians. Come learn how to make your roses bloom better in 2014, too! Bring pruning shears and gloves.
