West Coast Luxury Wellness Retreat Program Expands to Mexico

A guided, personalized wellness experience born in the Western U.S. is expanding to Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. Sensei, a global wellness brand, is bringing its touch of luxury to Zadún Los Cabos, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property.

The resort now offers Sensei's Optimal Wellbeing Program and the Rest & Reset Program to guests who stay at the 113-key resort. These programs are currently also offered at Sensei's California and Hawaii retreat locations.

"The Optimal Wellbeing Program was introduced in 2021 in direct response to the disruption many guests experienced during the pandemic. As routines were upended and people went from active social lives and careers to a more isolated home environment, it became clear that people were looking for support to reset habits and restore balance in a more intentional way," Meaghan Carlson, Sensei’s vice president of brand and marketing, told Newsweek.

"Sensei developed the program to help guests recalibrate their lifestyle with expert support and data-led insights. At its core, the program was designed to give guests practical tools to optimize their wellbeing and co-create a plan to support their journey long after their departure."

Rest & Reset was developed two years later in response to a need that arose out of client reaction to the Optimal Wellbeing Program. "Over time, we noticed that many guests were enrolling because something in their lives felt out of sync, not from a lack of effort, but because they were taking on too much. From high-powered executives to parents of young children, guests were highly scheduled, constantly optimizing, and pushing through exhaustion without leaving space for true recovery," Carlson said.

To do this, guests enroll in a five-day program that, "turns the focus toward rest and mindset, and practical tools for improving sleep and managing stress and daily pressure in healthier, more sustainable ways," the vice president described.

The two programs have technology at their core as a working part of the experience. Today, more than ever, wearables are commonplace in society with one in three adults owning one a 2023 study by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute found.

"We're seeing rapid innovation in the intersection of wellness and technology, most notably the widespread adoption of wearable devices. Tools like WHOOP and Aura give consumers unprecedented access to real‑time data on sleep, recovery, strain, and stress, but insight alone isn't enough," Carlson said.

"We saw an opportunity to leverage our evidence-led approach and partner with guests to interpret their data in a meaningful way and translate it into sustainable lifestyle choices. By equipping guests with a WHOOP device in advance of their stay, we're able to collect baseline data, analyze patterns, and create a personalized plan that influences how they move, rest, and nourish not only during their time with us, but well beyond their departure."

With their stay curated based on pre-arrival conversations and on-site assessments, guests have the opportunity of indulging in daily rotating wellbeing classes, private mental resilience and nutrition coaching sessions, spa services, stress management assessment, and sleep and sensory eating coaching.

"Both programs conclude with sessions to identify actionable steps upon their return and post-stay check-ins where guests can reflect on their progress. Additionally, guests will still have access to personalized insights and expert-led recommendations after their stay through Sensei’s digital MyJourney platform," Lina Morales, director of wellness at Sensei at Zadun, Los Cabos, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, told Newsweek.

Reservations for the two programs are currently being accepted.
