Fashion and functionality drive a new Adidas design for Oktoberfest – the shoes resemble lederhosen and are beer-resistant.

The München Made in Germany shoes, which retail for about $239 in U.S. dollars, are only available in Europe, alas. The limited edition shoes “represent the true spirit of Oktoberfest and sport heritage,” Adidas says.

The leather shoes resemble traditional German lederhosen, while the red-and-white checkered lining calls to mind Oktoberfest-style shirts. “Prost,” German for cheers, is printed in gold in place of a model number.

Perhaps most importantly, the shoes are water-resistant, offering extra protection from spilled beer and other, less savory, spillage if things get a little too rowdy.
