Sacramento camellia show needs a special button

Sacramento Bee readers share their gardening adventures.

It’s button time again – and this one should be a keeper. The Camellia Society of Sacramento celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2014. In advance of that milestone, the club needs a local artist – of any age – to design a commemorative button for the 2014 Sacramento Camellia Show.

For decades, the camellia buttons have been the show’s fundraiser as well as a sought-after collectible among local flower lovers. The theme this year? “Celebrating 90 Years.” The only requirement for the button design is that it must include the words, “Camellia Society of Sacramento” and “2014.”

Deadline for designs is Nov. 22. First prize for the winning design is a $100 gift certificate. The finished button is under 2 inches across, but designs should be submitted on 81/2-by-11-inch white bond paper.
