OPEN GARDEN DAYS
About 6,000 volunteers are certified UC master gardeners in county programs throughout the state dedicated to helping the public and answering questions. Since their debut in 1979, California master gardeners have contributed nearly 4.5 million volunteer hours.
In Sacramento County, master gardeners are still out in force. They give the public a chance to tap their considerable expertise and training during Open Garden Days. Demonstrations at the March event will include those on worm composting, vegetable gardening, water-wise landscaping, controlling orchard pests and home vineyard management.
