Firefighters, who for years have rescued frightened cats in tall trees, were called upon to rescue a 100 pound dog from a rooftop in Elk Grove on Tuesday afternoon.

The dog climbed into a treehouse and from there jumped onto the roof of a single-story house on La Nuez Drive near Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove Florin Road. A call was put into Cosumnes Fire Department firefighters to lend a hand in getting the pooch off the roof.

After they arrived at the scene around 1 p.m., firefighters worked quickly to get the dog down to the ground in short order. There was no obvious injury to the dog, according to firefighters.

Call The Bee’s Bill Lindelof, (916) 321-1079.
