Tell us what you love about your dog: Her ability to know what I want her to do without training G. Rice, Sacramento, CA
My dog's name is Bruno. What I love about him is that he's a big ball of energy and is always up for anything and everything. And although he's almost 2 and a half, he has a puppy face. >>> Editor’s note: Before looking at the rest of our pooch gallery, you can share a photo and/or a short video clip of your dog, too. Here’s how: Email photos and/or videos to firstname.lastname@example.org and include: your first and last name, your city, dog's name and then tell us what you love about your dog.

Manny's an AKC registered English Staffordshire Bull Terrier with the sweetest disposition, graduate of the Hundeausbildung and smartest dog I've ever known. Does hand signals, tricks and is a bundle of untapped energy and the most vocal dog, he chatters on and on whenever anything is on his mind and never stops playing. Loves kids and other animals, plays well with everyoneand just a joy to be around.

Zoey, I love everything about my dog - even her excitment as she rolls in something stinky! She loves people, cats, most dogs, chasing things, hugs, and, as you can see, dirt, swimming, the snow, and just about everything. She's my best friend (don't tell the cats).

Gemma – 3 years old We adopted Gemma from the Central California Lab Rescue group two years ago. She had been confiscated, along with a large number of other dogs, from a hoarder who kept them in almost feral conditions with little socialization. I love the way she has developed from a fearful dog hiding behind my legs when anyone approached to a confident, happy dog who loves people.
Karen Purvis, Gold River, CA
Betty White (white) - 7 yrs, Bichon/poodle mix from Front Street Animal Shelter and Bailey (black and white) - 3 yrs, Maltese/poodle mix from a rescue in Vacaville We live in midtown and our favorite thing about our pups is their resiliency. As adopted animals, they each came into our home with the own "quirks", but their ability to love is unmatched. They're inseparable best friends and make us laugh and smile on a daily basis. We can't imagine our lives without them.

This is our two year old Alaskan Malamute named Koda Bear. We adopted him in May of 2014. Before he was six months, he had two different owners who decided they didn’t have time for him and both of them sent him to shelters in San Mateo where he was rescued by someone that lived in a condo but couldn’t keep him so he came to live with us. He is very smart and extremely loving despite his rocky start in life. This is a picture of him waiting for me to come out and play ball with him. He will sit there every day after dinner until I finally come out to play. He has taught me a lot about patience!.
Donald Garnas, Roseville, CA

Jasper (front), Lucas, Gunther (red) all rescued through Internet Miniature Pinscher Services (IMPS). The most loyal, intelligent, and athletic dogs. These guys force me to run three miles every morning before breakfast. They help me reach my movement goal before I go to work.
I wanted to submit a photo of our dog Daisy for National Dog Day. We've had her since she was a pup from back in 2001, and she has certainly served our family well. At almost 15 years old, Daisy's been dealing with the inevitable symptoms of aging. She has arthritis in her back legs and just doesn't have the energy that she used to. But she's still kicking, looking as lovable as ever. She spends most of her days looking for new comfortable spots around the house to curl up in and test out as nap areas. Her tongue usually comes out when she's deep in a sleep, such as this.
Happy National Dog Day!
