Regal Entertainment Group announced Wednesday that one Sacramento theater is getting a boost.

UA Laguna Village 12, 8755 Center Parkway in Sacramento, will bid farewell to its existing theater seats and replace them with king-size recliners that include footrests.

“Our guests will soon be able to stretch out, relax and recline while watching the movie,” said Rob Del Moro, chief technical and theater operations officer at Regal Entertainment Group.

Patrons can try out the new seats in the lobby during construction and the theater will remain open. The remodel is expected to be completed by February.

Regal also recently upgraded Laguna Village from using celluloid film to digital cinema.

The upgrades mirror a trend in the Sacramento area in which more theaters are offering cushy chairs, four-star food, liquor and reserved seats.

Woodland’s State Theatre will reopen to the public July 6, 2017, after a nearly $15 million renovation.
