Studio Movie Grill, the Sacramento region’s first movie theater to offer first-run movies and in-seat food, beer, wine and cocktail service, opened Monday at 5140 Commons Drive in Rocklin.
The Texas-based Studio Movie Grill chain’s first West Coast location opened with this past weekend’s box office winner “Exodus: Gods and Kings.” The first showing is 4 p.m.
Studio Movie Grill offers burgers, salads, pizzas and beer and cocktails served to seats, as well as reserved seating.
Plans are in the works for more in-theater dining in Sacramento. The city of Woodland in June approved plans to turn the historic State Theatre into a multiplex with an on-site restaurant. That project is expected to be completed late next year.
