Memorable characters embody universal feelings in films that have become holiday favorites – the hopeful Ralphie, the troubled George Bailey, the long-suffering Bob Cratchit. As luck would have it, you can see some of those emotions played out on the big screen. The Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento, will present three seasonal films, “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (Sunday), “Gremlins” (Monday) and “A Christmas Story” (Tuesday), and Cinemark Theaters in Elk Grove, Rocklin, Roseville and Sacramento are screening “It’s a Wonderful Life” (Sunday and Wednesday). Tickets: $7.50-$10.75. Information about times and locations is available at (916) 476-3356 or www.crestsacramento.com; or (800) 246-3627 or www.cinemark.com.
