On Wednesday, the Sacramento French Film Festival will present a French-language documentary about a very timely subject: the role of the satirical cartoonist.

The 2014 film “Cartoonists: Foot Soldiers of Democracy,” directed by Stéphanie Valloatto, includes interviews with 12 cartoonists from around the world.

The film, which will screen at 6:30 p.m. at Sacramento’s Crest Theatre, does not feature Charlie Hebdo cartoonists, but the screening is a tribute to them and other victims of the recent Paris terrorist attacks.

Sacramento State professor Kevin Elstob will moderate a post-screening panel discussion. Sacramento Bee cartoonist Jack Ohman is on the panel.

Tickets are $11.75 general, $10.75 seniors and adults, and are available at the Crest box office (1013 K St.) or through Ticketfly.com.
