THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS

Rated PG for action and some rude humor.

What it’s about: Everyone wonders what their pets are up to during the day, and this animated movie from the filmmakers behind “Despicable Me” imagines a wild adventure for them.

The kid attractor factor: Animated comedy with super-cute characters.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Rivals can become the closest allies under pressure, there’s nothing like a bond between an owner and pet, you never know what strength you’re made of.

Violence: Some wild perilous action scenes, chases, bumps, falls and tumbles.

Language: No swearing, a few light-hearted jokes about animal droppings.

Sexuality: Just the crush Gidget has on Max.

Drugs: None, though those pets like to party.

Parents advisory: A truly cute and funny animated treat for kids and families. Some of the more intense action scenes might be a little much for toddlers and very young kids.
