With all the recent chatter about the merits and perils of underground art spaces, here’s a video trip back to Sacramento’s legendary Stucco Factory, a former warehouse turned art collective circa 1983 to 1993 at 27th and R streets. Midtown was a bit scrappier back then, but the edginess of those times endures through Tales of Terror, the classic Sacramento punk band with some members who called the Stucco Factory home. A recently uploaded video brings back those janky, slam dancing days that aren’t seen so much in the central city any more. Crank it up and flash back to a midtown that many Sacramentans miss.
