Less than a year after rocking Sacramento at Discovery Park’s Aftershock festival, it’s going to be Tool time once again. The popular and enigmatic hard rock band will perform at Golden 1 Center on June 23.
Tool’s headlining set at Aftershock in October, full of psychedelic visuals and walloping sonics, was perhaps the most spectacular appearance of that entire headbanging weekend. The band only tours intermittently and hasn’t released a studio album since 2006’s “10,000 Days,” making this most recent show announcement a true score of Sacramento fans of Tool.
Local social media was also buzzing during October’s Aftershock weekend when singer Maynard James Keenan was spotted at Ella Dining Room & Bar, where the normally shadowy frontman chatted up staff about wine and posed for a couple of pictures.
Presale tickets and VIP packages for members of Tool’s fan club will be released at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. VIP passes cost $499.98 and include a live interview session with guitarist Adam Jones, a photo opportunity, early entry to the venue and other perks. General on-sale tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
