Subtract the Billy Ray from Billy Ray Cyrus, and what have you got?

Cyrus.

The country singer and father of Miley Cyrus revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that come August, he’ll be shortening his moniker to just plain Cyrus.

“After August 25th, I will be the artist formerly known as Billy Ray. I’m just going by my last name Cyrus,” he told the magazine. “I always went by Cyrus, and I begged Mercury Records to call me Cyrus in the beginning because that’s what I was comfortable with.”

The artist, who also appeared in “Hannah Montana” with his daugther, reposted congratulations on the impending name change from fans on his Twitter feed.

Cyrus also has released a new 25th anniversary version of his hit “Achy Breaky Heart,” with Spanish and electronic dance versions ready to roll out soon.
