Swinging for the fences in its third year, First Festival returns to the riverbanks of West Sacramento with the feel of a festival that’s come into its own as a hyperlocal mecca of music, art, comedy and food. Old alt-rock pals Oleander headline Saturday with Arden Park Roots leading Sunday. Hobo Johnson & the Lovemakers, DLRN, Some Fear None and dozens more pack the weekend. $20-$35.

Wedged between vintage Buffalo Springfield/ Lauren Canyon-era country soul and the irreverent “boom-boom-thack” of Crazy Horse (the double Neil Young nod here is no accident), Athens product Futurebirds has the look of the next alt-country cult favorite – a wide-open door for Wilco or My Morning Jacket fanatics. Doors 8 p.m. $16-$18.

Not gonna lie, catching San Francisco’s “ambassadors of Gypsy rock” Diego’s Umbrella at Torch Club sounds like a steamy heap of fun as the band tours behind its album “Edjka.” These guys’ shows are notoriously raucous, teeming with globally rooted pop, barroom rock and carefree flips of funk. $6.
