Tickets for the duo’s Jan. 31 show at Memorial Auditorium go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Staples will open for Tyler alongside a DJ set by Taco, a member of Tyler’s hip-hop group Odd Future. They’ll also play at The Armory on Jan. 29 in San Francisco.
Tyler’s album “Flower Boy” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 list in August, while Staples’ “Big Fish Theory” hit No. 6 in the previous month.

Pitchfork reviewer Sheldon Pierce called “Flower Boy,” “transformational, lovestruck and penetrating” while acknowledging it as a step in growing up from Tyler’s past lyrics full of homophobic slurs and misogynistic lines.
Originally from Los Angeles, Tyler, The Creator announced he had attended Elk Grove High School for two weeks during a previous show at Ace of Spades. His annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival music festival was headlined by Lana Del Rey, Kid Cudi and 2 Chainz this year.
