Peter Petty’s Swinging Yuletide Revue
8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15
Elks Tower Ballroom (921 11th St.)
It’s probably not a stretch to predict that the picturesque Elks Ballroom, hosting this event for the first time, will likely emerge as the gold standard local venue for effervescent showman Peter Petty’s annual holiday revue, “Son of Hepcat’s Holla’Day!” It’ll be a pure throwback holiday cocktail soirée (“grown-ups only”) when the grandiose Petty is joined by the 11-piece Titans of Terpsichore orchestra. He’ll arrive with a sleigh full of guests including Hans Eberbach, Gold Souls frontwoman Juniper Waller, sonic architect April Walker (better known locally as Spacewalker), jazz vocalist Casey Lipka and several others and the usual burlesque performers. Doors 7 p.m. $25 adv./$35 door ($40 VIP package). www.eventbrite.com.
‘Merry Krampus’ with Cities You Wish You Were From
8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15
Hooch parlors like the Hideaway are exactly the type of dimly lit dives that the howling, witching-hour blues of Cities You Wish You Were From (the duo of guitarist Elijah Jenkins and drummer Tyler Downie) are meant for. They take lead for this holiday show that features a platoon of top-notch local talent, with rumbling rock act Shotgun Sawyer, indie rockers Vinnie Guidera and the Dead Birds and hip-hop artist Sparks Across Darkness. $5. merrykrampus.brownpapertickets.com.
9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14
Fox & Goose
“Highest Low,” the new single from upstart local indie rock trio Attendees (Brian Biehle on guitar and vocals, Brian Augusta on bass and Corey Yeoman on drums) has the feel of a band shaking loose the “newness” and beginning to find its footing with some sharp bar-corner indie rock, rich on riffs and light on frills. They celebrate their single release with the Dialers opening the show. $5. www.foxandgoose.com.
