Old Sacramento will turn up the volume on Memorial Day weekend with an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, blues and other musical genres.
The Sacramento Music Festival, which runs from Friday to Monday, was known for decades as the Dixieland Jazz Jubilee. With the audience for traditional jazz shrinking, it was revamped in 2012 to appeal to a broader audience.
This year, headliners include rockers Collective Soul and Mat Kearney, along with country rock band the Texas Tornados. There’s also the Wonder Bread 5, a wigged, spandex-clad cover band billed on its website as an “an unstoppable, international, rock-n-roll party machine.”
