Sacramento chorus to appear with Scottish sensation Susan Boyle

A choir based at an East Sacramento Catholic Church has been selected to perform with Susan Boyle, the Scottish singer with the big voice, when she appears Sunday in Sacramento.

Boyle came to prominence when she wowed judges and the public on the television show Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 when she sang “I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables.” She is appearing at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sacramento Community Center as part of a nationwide tour.

Schola Cantorum, based at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 39th and J streets, will appear with Boyle during the performance.

“We were thrilled to get the call just the other day from Ms. Boyle’s production team inviting us to collaborate with this ‘larger-than-life superstar’,” said Sacred Heart Music Director Donald Kendrick in a press release.

Members from the Sacramento Choral Society and the Sacramento State State University Chorus, both conducted by Kendrick, will also appear with the 26-voice Schola Cantorum on stage with Boyle.
