Swaggering psychedelic funk/soul rockers PigWar prove that you can get all the equipment and training you need for an intergalactic thrill ride simply by visiting a thrift shop and a speakeasy with 20 bucks in your pocket. Get there early: They roll into town from Portland to open for local indie rock champs Exquisite Corps and the fabled Musical Charis, in their last local show for the foreseeable future. Doors open at 9 p.m. 2708 J St., Sacramento. $8.

Sophia’s Thai Kitchen

“Whose hand held the pen that scratched the lines/ with these words that lie and stare at me tonight?” go the lyrics to the title track to Misner + Smith’s “Seven Hour Storm.” With such living and breathing lyrics and instrumental playfulness, the well-kept secret that this tantalizing indie folk duo is will eventually be exposed. With Yours Truly, Michele. 129 E St., Davis. $5.

Blue Lamp

It’s hard to know yet what to make of Burro, the new pet project from Zack Lopez of Middle Class Rut and members of local rock standouts Lite Brite, because it doesn’t mirror either previous outfit. Expect a straightforward rock-and-roll startup, with veteran poise, vintage roots and no limits. Lonely Kings, Horseneck and Eyes on the Shore round out a loaded bill of locals. 1400 Alhambra Blvd, Sacramento. $5-$7.

Looking ahead: Echo & the Bunnymen. Aug. 8 at Ace of Spades.

With last year’s new release “Meteorites,” this veteran British rock outfit continues its legacy as a new-wave beloved act. 1417 R St., Sacramento. $32.
