Just when you thought the old Kings venue was done, another concert has been added to its events calendar. Pitbull, the Cuban-American rapper and pop star, will perform at Sleep Train Arena on July 10.
In the realm of the Sacramento Kings, attention certainly has turned to the upcoming opening of its $518 million arena, also known as Golden 1 Center in downtown. Kings officials recently announced the first of two Paul McCartney shows, which will inaugurate Golden 1 Center on Oct. 4-5. Three other concerts were previously announced for Golden 1 Center: Maroon 5 (Oct. 15), Jimmy Buffett (Oct. 20) and Latin rockers Maná (Nov. 9).
Sleep Train Arena’s events calendar still includes a smattering of shows, including Selena Gomez on Tuesday, May 10, and a series of performances from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus running Sept. 15-18. A previously planned concert with Janet Jackson on July 7 was scrapped after the singer announced her “Unbreakable” tour was being postponed as the singer prepares to welcome a baby.
Sleep Train Arena meanwhile will host a series of local high school graduations. Kings officials said they are still unsure of how many more events will be added to Sleep Train Arena’s calendar as activity ramps up at Golden 1 Center.
Pre-sale tickets for the Pitbull concert go on sale for American Express cardholders at 10 a.m.Tuesday, May 10 and that window remains open until 10 p.m. Friday, May 13. General on-sale ticketing starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14.
