The musical pride of Dixon now has the biggest country album in the land.
Jon Pardi, who honed his act around Dixon and Winters before moving to Nashville, currently has the No. 1 album on the country charts with “California Sunrise.” The album has already spawned the Top 10 country hit “Head Over Boots,” which has also logged more than 3 million views on YouTube. “California Sunrise” was released June 17.
Unlike much of the pop-minded country music currently making the rounds, “California Sunrise” harkens to a more classic take on the genre with shades of Buck Owens and George Strait in Pardi’s vocal twang and down-home lyrics reflecting the stories and dreams of common folks.

Pardi’s previous album, 2014’s “Write You a Song,” reached No. 3 on the country charts.
“For me it starts with the melody and the idea of what you want that melody to say,” Pardi said to The Bee in 2014 about his songwriting method. “(I’m) always dealing with things, talking to people. Everywhere you look at, there’s all kind of inspiration around you, you just have to capture it.”
Pardi kicks off his latest tour on Wednesday, June 29 at the Troubador in Hollywood. The closest for now that Pardi will get to his old stomping grounds in Dixon is a July 3 appearance at Reno’s Biggest Little City Wing Fest. He’s also slated for a show on Aug. 14 at the Ironstone Amphitheatre in Murphys, and a July 7 TV appearance on the “Today” show.
