The three young Sacramento men who were lauded as heroes after thwarting an armed assault on a train in France will appear on television’s “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” on Monday and Tuesday, the network announced.
Their appearance, airing at 1 a.m. on ABC10 in Sacramento, kicks off “Hometown Heroes Week” on the show.
“Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler were deemed national heroes when they stopped an active shooter from killing hundreds on a train to Paris in August of 2015,” show officials wrote in a press release about the special episodes.
Skarlatos, Stone and Sadler received France’s highest award, the Legion of Honor. They had an audience with President Barack Obama at the White House in September 2015 and were feted in Sacramento with a downtown parade.
The three men have been in and out of the news since their heroics. Skarlatos claimed third place in ABC television’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Last December, Stone was stabbed four times in a street fight outside of a Sacramento nightclub.
The release states that the three put their friendship and teamwork to good use on the show.
