Laura Skirde, a prominent part of “Good Day Sacramento” and other CBS 13 newscasts, will be leaving the station for a job in the 90210.

Skirde, morning meteorologist for the Sacramento station since July 2009, has accepted a position as director of communication for the Beverly Hills Unified School District beginning June 5.

Her last day at CBS 13 was Wednesday and she spent the morning saying goodbye and reminiscing on “Good Day Sacramento.” Skirde had spent 20 years in television news.

Before working in Sacramento, she worked in Austin, Texas. She began her career in weather forecasting at stations in Peoria, Ill., and Casper, Wyo.

Skirde, who was raised in Colorado, is a big fan of the Denver Broncos. She could be counted on to cheer on her favorite NFL team by wearing a Broncos jersey.

While she said leaving her friends at the station is difficult, she apparently won’t miss the early morning wake-up that is required to work the early shift. “Setting my alarm for 2:30 a.m. for the last time … priceless!” she tweeted.
