Ellen DeGeneres has hosted numerous people on her talk show.
She says one person she will never welcome is President Donald Trump.
DeGeneres interviewed NBC News’ Megyn Kelly on Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” an Emmy Award-winning talk show in its 15th season. During questioning, DeGeneres asked Kelly if she’d have Trump on her show.
Kelly, who earlier in the interview said she left her job at Fox News after 12 years because of Trump, would still be open to having him on.
“I would not say no to the sitting president of the United States,” Kelly said. “Would you?”
“Yeah,” DeGeneres responded with no hesitation. “He is who he is and he has enough attention and he has his Twitter account and he has ways to get his message across. There’s nothing that I’m going to say to him that’s going to change him.
“I don’t want to give him a platform because it validates him and for me to have someone on the show ... I have to at least admire them in some way, and I can’t have someone that I feel is not only dangerous for the country and for me, personally, as a gay woman, but to the world. He is dividing all of us and ... I don’t want him on the show.”
DeGeneres has hosted other presidents, including Barack Obama and George W. Bush, and presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
