Veteran reporter Sam Shane has anchored his last show with CBS13.

The network decided not to renew Shane’s contract when it recently expired, news director Tom Bell said in an email. Anchors Tony Lopez and Christina Janes will fill Shane’s role on the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows.

Shane had anchored for CBS13 since 2006 and previously worked for KCRA as well as MSNBC and stations in San Francisco and Seattle. His career highlights include coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing, the capture of the Unabomber and the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

He also played baseball for the University of Minnesota alongside future Oakland A’s catcher Terry Steinbach before graduating in 1986, and has written multiple “Rocky the Mudhen” children’s baseball books.
