Rina Nakano’s last broadcast for Fox40 came Friday morning.
Nakano plans to head down somewhere in Southern California – exact location to be determined – to reunite with her fiancé before their wedding, she said. She announced her departure in a Facebook post Friday evening.
“I had a good four years, met some great people, and I’m really grateful for the opportunities Sacramento has given me,” she said.

Nakano joined Fox40 in January 2014 after reporting for the network’s affiliate in San Diego. She previously worked for CNN International and NHK World Newsline in Tokyo and NBC News 13 in Casper, Wyoming, and double-majored in communication and Japanese studies at UC San Diego.
Fair Oaks native Olivia DeGennaro slid into Nakano’s morning reporting slot on Monday after being wooed away from KRNV News 4 in Reno. The station also lost reporter Sarah Acosta, who moved back to her home state of Texas, at the beginning of the year.
