Becca Habegger has left ABC10 after less than a year reporting for the station’s Late News Tonight program.

Habegger plans to travel the world as a video producer with a start-up YouTube show over the next year, she announced in an Instagram post Sunday. The show, called “Fresh Life,” will travel to LGBT festivals and hotspots in New Zealand, Brazil and more, and will feature one of her best friends as a host.

Habegger will continue living in Sacramento in between trips, she said. She moved to California from Nashville, where she was named the Tennessee Associated Press’ top large-market TV reporter in 2016 before joining ABC10 in June 2017.

A Minnesota native, Habegger began her career in eastern Iowa after earning a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in sociology from the University of Missouri.

ABC10 has lost four on-air reporters or anchors since November after longtime nightly news hosts Dale Schornack and Cristina Mendonsa departed earlier in 2017. Four veteran journalists with 107 combined years took buyouts from the station’s parent company in June 2016, and Bryan May’s contract was not renewed after 17 years near the end of December that year.

Ohio-born reporter Brittany Begley will begin covering traffic and weather for ABC10 in early February.
