The “world’s largest street pub” paid big dividends to a local charity.

Held Oct. 8 in midtown Sacramento, the one-day event raised $80,000 for Runnin’ for Rhett. The Elk Grove-based nonprofit foundation hosts both adult and youth fitness programs in the Sacramento area.

Organized by Deschutes Brewery and serving craft beers, the 420-foot-long pop-up pub attracted an estimated 21,000 patrons, 50 percent more than the pub’s inaugural visit in 2015.

On an 88 degree summer-like day, the beer lovers were thirsty. The crowd consumed 209 kegs of beer with all proceeds donated to the local charity.

During a national tour, the street pub also made stops, by chronological order, in Arlington, Va.; Philadelphia; Columbus, Ohio; Chicago; Roanoke, Va.; and Minneapolis. For more information on the street pub and its tour, visit the brewery’s website at www.deschutesbrewery.com.
