The San Francisco Chronicle has some food that’s directly linked to Sacramento. The paper’s Inside Scoop SF blog reports that Kelly McCown, former executive chef of Ella Dining Room & Bar, is leaving St. Helena’s Goose & Gander to return to Sacramento.
Back in the 916 area code, McCown will be among the opening team at OBO’ Italian. The restaurant is the latest venture from the Selland Group, which also operates Ella and The Kitchen, and will be located in the former Andiamo on Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento.
McCown was the second executive chef to lead Ella’s kitchen, and left to open Goose & Gander following his two and a half year stint in Sacramento. While at Goose & Gander, the restaurant earned a “bib gourmand” from the Michelin Guide, which designates outstanding moderately priced restaurants.
