Pie calendar converts into recipe cards

Pie can make any day a little sweeter, so why not salute this dessert year-round?

That’s the idea behind the “2017 Pie Calendar,” 12 months of inspiring and yummy pie recipes. A fun gift for pie-loving cooks, the locally made calendar was hand-drawn by Chico artist Rebekah Tennis of Wild Ink Press with recipes by popular Sacramento-based food blogger Elise Bauer of SimplyRecipes.com.

“The calendar is letterpress stamped on card stock, beautifully illustrated, with the ingredients on one side with the method on the back,” Bauer said. “So, after you finish using the calendar as a calendar, you can cut away the dates and you have perfect recipe cards.”

That assures the recipes (and more pies) will live on long after 2017 is a memory. Among the featured pies are such classics as lemon meringue, apple and pumpkin as well as creative twists on key lime, peach galette and raspberry-walnut (plus six more). Priced at $34, the pie calendar is available at www.wildinkpress.com.
