Cinnamon roll bakery Spinners had a rough start in its new location, a remodeled 76 gas station in Land Park.
Beloved for its thick, luxuriously frosted rolls, Spinners had operated for nearly three decades in Sacramento’s Downtown Plaza before Golden 1 Center construction forced it to close. It reopened this past fall on Sutterville Road (near the Sacramento Zoo) but had to shut down temporarily in late December because of a small electrical fire.
These days, the shop is back to business as usual, and part of that usual business is making its lesser known – but no less phenomenal – apple cinnamon rolls. Firm, sweet apples, given the pie-filling treatment, nest in the center of the dense, buttery coils of breading. Each bite is pure breakfast pastry bliss.
