Sacramentans have known for decades that Paragary’s intimate patio is one of the best spots to eat brunch or dinner in the region. Now this news has gone national: Restaurant reservation service OpenTable.com has included Paragary’s on its 2017 list of “100 best al fresco restaurants” in the United States.
The list was culled, OpenTable reported, from more than 10 million patron reviews of more than 25,000 restaurants.
The list features 28 other California restaurants, but no others from the Sacramento region. The closest spots to us are Danville’s Bridges Restaurant and San Rafael’s Panama Hotel . Many of the selections, intriguingly, are in misters-mandatory Palm Springs and Phoenix areas.
The Paragary’s patio also is our personal local favorite, though we are fond of the cozy patios at long-standing restaurants Mulvaney’s and Aioli, and at newcomers Midtown’s Cantina Alley and Selland’s Market-Cafe. The lively, 3-month-old Cantina Alley is the most “al fresco” of the bunch – on our visits, everything besides the restaurant’s kitchen and patron bathrooms were open to the air.
