Dried fruits from Bella Viva Orchards are just peachy

We were cruising the aisles at Sunrise Natural Foods store in Roseville, eyeing the array of specialty-food items, when we came across a display of “pure and natural” dried fruits from Bella Viva Orchards in Hughson, near Modesto. It’s a Certified Organic Fruit Grower and a Certified Organic Fruit Dry Yard, with an extensive line of dried fruits and nuts.

We picked up a bag of dried orange slices ($3.79) and one of peach slices ($4.79) and were intrigued by the labeling, which read in part, “We’ve packed about 2.5 pounds of (fresh fruit) in this 4-ounce bag.”

Over the next few days, we snacked on the healthful fruits straight from the bags, cut them into pieces and added them to salads and yogurt, and even used them as an ingredient in a cake. Yummy stuff.
