Guess what, Sacramento? Thrillist has dubbed Sacramento as “the new Oakland” – and not just because both cities share Hells Angels chapters, or because the Sacramento Kings have the same winning ways as the Oakland Raiders.

According to Thrillist, the site popular for its listicles reflecting lifestyle and the pulse of pop culture, Sacramento has outdone Oakland in terms of its coolness quotient. While Oakland has become a popular spot for those seeking refuge from San Francisco’s epic cost of living prices, and seen an influx of food and drink options in the process, Sac Town is apparently more cutting edge than Oak Town.

Among the evidence listed: Sacramento’s bustling coffee culture, the abundance of good food – with The Kitchen, Grange, Kru and Block Butcher Bar among those name checked – and all the outdoor activities available in our backyard.

In proper NorCal fashion, let’s just say that Sacramento has hella things to eat and places to go. Of course, us longtime locals have known the virtues of Sacramento for years. But, in a Sally Field kind of moment, it’s cool to see that, yes, people like us – they really, really like us!
