Top awards for the 2015 California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition were announced today, and many Sacramento-area wineries are basking in first-place glory.

That would include Sean Minor Four Bears of Sacramento, which took home honors for the state’s best chardonnay, and Lewis Grace of El Dorado County, which won best of show red for its 2012 tempranillo.

Out of the 2,881 participating wine entries from 743 winery brands, Sacramento-area wineries took home wins for best zinfandel, best cabernet sauvignon and best traditional vintage port, just to name a few. Deciding the winners were 72 judges on 18 panels. Each varietal was scored on a 100-point scale, with double gold receiving 98 to 99 points, and gold receiving 94 to 97 points.

Top wines can be enjoyed at the Save Mart Supermarkets Wine Garden at the State Fair, which runs July 10-26.

Below are a list of gold and double gold winners from the Sacramento area (not including best of region). For more information on the award-winning wines, check out our database.
