A new food truck fashioned as a farmer’s market on wheels with grab-and-go items will make its debut at Saturday’s “Farm-to-Fork Festival.” Sacatomatoes, the latest venture from the team behind the Wicked ‘Wich truck and Broderick Roadhouse, is still fine-tuning the menu but we’re told it’ll be a mix of healthy, locally sourced foods and bags of farm-fresh ingredients.
“We want to give people the option of buying a bag of fresh plums during their lunch break,” said Matt Chong, one of the partners behind Sacatomatoes. “In getting together and working with farmers for the ‘Farm-to-Fork’ (festival), there’s a huge potential for taking this idea on the road. A lot of the time the idea of eating farm fresh ingredients is limited to fine dining. We thought a food truck would be a great vehicle to deliver that kind of eating.”
Chong said the Sacatomatoes truck will focus mainly on special events, but seeks to service lunch needs as well. Expect the menu and its offerings to change regularly, and its initial items will be announced soon.
“You’re going to see fun things that haven’t made their way to the trucks out here,” said Chong. “We’re not going to be dedicated to one style of dining. It’s really about the ingredients.”
