The chill of fall is slowly moving in, close enough to warrant a big bowl of red at the fourth annual Firefighter Chili Cook-Off.
That’s where the “house cooks” from area fire departments will gather to show off their versions of the perfect chili, in competition for braggin’ rights as the best bowl in town. Take your tastes and vote for your favorite chili-making team. Last year’s winner was Cal Fire.
Bonus: interactive activities, demonstrations, entertainment and raffles.
The fundraiser will happen from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at Safetyville USA, 3909 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. Admission is $5 for adults, free for children 5 and younger.
