Tony Abou-Ganim knows his way around a cocktail. Nicknamed the Modern Mixologist, this expert can turn an ordinary drink into a memorable (and tasty) experience.
Saturday afternoon, Abou-Ganim will bring his craft cocktail know-how to the Sacramento area for a special appearance at BevMo!, 7929 Greenback Lane Citrus Heights.
Part of his “Vodka Distilled” national tour, the event shares recipes from Abou-Ganim’s book, “Vodka Distilled: The Modern Mixologist on Vodka and Vodka Cocktails” (Agate Surrey, 208 pages, $22.95). The author will sign books as well as demonstrate his art.
Considered one of the pioneers of the craft cocktail movement, Abou-Ganim goes way beyond your basic vodka martini.

“Tony Abou-Ganim is the poster boy for modern mixology,” said celebrity chef Mario Batali, who teamed with Abou-Ganim to win an “Iron Chef America” competition.
Besides mixing it up with Abou-Ganim, patrons may imbibe the results during a special tasting of his inventive cocktail recipes. He’ll also share tips on the best ways to create cocktails at home and show how to use bar tools most effectively.
“Between the tastings, demonstrations and conference-style discussions, there is a little something for every vodka lover,” he said.
Abou-Ganim will be at the Citrus Heights’ BevMo! from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Participants must be age 21 or older to attend. For more details, call (916) 728-4204.
