After a trial run this summer, a new culinary addition to Sacramento’s K Street gets its official grand opening Wednesday.
About A Bite Bakery and Harvest Bar by Downtown & Vine will host a joint ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. at the space the businesses share at 1200 K St., Suite 9. It’s next door to Harvest Bar’s parent Downtown & Vine’s “Urban Wine Country” bar and restaurant.
“We’ve tied the knot and now it’s time to cut the ribbon,” bakery owner Jennifer Kaye and Downtown & Vine’s Kate Chomko said in a statement. A reception is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. for their “unique concept of shared space.”
Harvest Bar juice bar features “grab-and-go” snacks as well as healthy concoctions featuring local produce. As its name implies, About A Bite Bakery specializes in bite-size confections and unique candy-cookie hybrids. Examples include such combinations as Passion Fruit-Champagne (with toasted coconut shortbread) and Strawberry Balsamic Ganache (with brown butter shortbread).

“I’ve been a candy maker my whole life,” Kaye told The Bee earlier this summer. “I love food, I love baking and I love to experiment. I love anything baked, but I also love chocolate and truffles. I found a way to put them all together and make something really original.”
The grand opening will feature samples from both sides of this culinary marriage including sweet treats and farm-to-fork (or glass) fare.
