The Buggy Whip restaurant opened in Sacramento in 1959 and became a destination steakhouse. For decades, it shared the cachet of other old-school dining spots around town, including the Coral Reef, the Ram, the Oaks and Bidell’s.

After closing in 2012, it recently reopened with a “refreshed” look and a revised menu that keeps some of the classic dishes and adds others.
