Black truffles took center stage at sixth annual Napa Truffle Festival

We drove through the rain to reach Jamieson Ranch Vineyards in American Canyon, just outside the Napa Valley. There, chef Rick Tramonto of Restaurant R’evolution in New Orleans assembled a multicourse luncheon for 75 to close the sixth annual Napa Valley Truffle Festival. The fest celebrates the subterranean fungus that’s a delicacy in the global marketplace.

More than 900 people attended the four-day event, choosing from an a la carte menu of wine tastings, food-and-wine pairings, truffle-accented lunches and dinners, truffle-hunting demonstrations, and a truffle-cultivation seminar presented by the American Truffle Company.

The festival brings foodies from all over California and a few foreign countries. To get an early start on the seventh annual event in January 2017, visit
