It’s quite possible that Julianne “Still Alice” Moore yelled to a short-order cook more than once, “Adam and Eve on a raft!” (Two poached eggs on toast). And for sure Renée “Bridget Jones” Zellweger dealt with her share of bar flies and bouncers.

They’re among 10 name-brand celebrities who worked in restaurants and bars before finding fame. So says the all-things-food-and-drink Daily Meal, which notes: “It may be clichéd to say that all struggling actors and actresses have to pay their dues as servers before making it big, but the stereotype is born of truth. Plenty of waiters and waitresses are hoping for their big break, and some of the world’s biggest celebrities once made a living waiting tables, tending bar or serving fast food.”
