Just in time for Super Bowl, some other football heroes got a special tribute – in the dairy case.

This week, Crystal Creamery released special commemorative milk cartons honoring 2015 state champion football teams from Del Oro, Central Catholic, Sierra and East Nicolaus high schools. In addition, a fifth carton design pays tribute to Folsom, Sonora, Bradshaw Christian and Stone Ridge Christian high schools, all California Interscholastic Federation section champions.

Loomis’ Del Oro, Modesto’s Central Catholic and Manteca’s Sierra play in CIF’s Sac-Joaquin Section, which Crystal Creamery sponsors. One of the most improbable state champions, Del Oro’s Golden Eagles rebounded from a 2-6 start to win eight consecutive games and the Division II title. The Modesto-based dairy producer added tiny East Nicolaus to the milk carton salute after the 280-student high school in the Sutter County farm town of East Nicolaus won its first state championship.

“We have produced commemorative milk cartons honoring more than 80 Sac-Joaquin Section winners since 2012 and we have always provided state champions with their own cartons,” said Frank Otis, Crystal Creamery’s president. “But we have never had so many state champions in one season as we do this year. And the story of East Nicolaus is the essence of high school sports, so we wanted to honor them and add to their magical year.”

Look for these special milk cartons in Nugget Market, Wal-Mart, Raley’s, Food-4-Less and other local grocery stores.
