Philz Coffee is expected to arrive in Davis in January at 521 2nd St.

The Bay Area coffee company, known for specialized blends, customizable orders and the fan-favorite Mint Mojito, has expanded to 41 locations.

The company’s founder Phil Jaber began the vision for the business 25 years ago, designing his shops to craft one cup of coffee at a time. The midtown Sacramento Philz at 1725 R St. is so popular there is frequently a line of people waiting to be served their personal cups of coffee.

One fan of Philz, Karen Chang, a fourth-year cell biology major at UC Davis, told the California Aggie campus newspaper that she is looking forward to enjoying a cup of Joe at the new location.

“The quality of the coffee is so much better than other chain coffee stores,” Chang told the Aggie. “And the Philz vibe is really chill. I feel like it’s geared towards young adults and people my age. I love going there.”
