Our readers say this write-in candidate makes the best barbecue in the Sacramento area

Barbecue is divisive. There’s Carolina-style, there’s Texas-style, and there’s approximately a million variations and favorites.

We know this much: Sacramento has a lot of good barbecue, and our readers told us as much in a recent poll about the best barbecue joints in town.

For at least the second time, a write-in candidate won a Bee poll about the best food in the Sacramento area. Buckethead BBQ was the runaway winner of The Bee’s recent poll about the best barbecue in the area, taking 51% of the votes. MacQue’s Barbecue finished second with 19.7% of the vote. Another write-in favorite, Purple Pig Eats, had 11.9% of the vote in third place.

Buckethead is a food truck and catering service based in Roseville that operates around the Sacramento area. The truck features pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken, along with specials and sides.
