Sushi, doughnuts, burritos: These 18 new restaurants just opened around Sacramento
At least 18 new restaurants debuted in greater Sacramento throughout February, serving everything from Instagrammable pho to Korean pancakes to Mexican stews.
Four restaurants opened in Roseville, plus two each in Elk Grove and Folsom and one in Davis, Fair Oaks and Rocklin.
Bakemono Sushi (330 Palladio Parkway, Suite 2045, Folsom): Bakemono is a Japanese word for imaginary monsters, but delights such as sashimi platters, yakisoba and deep-fried spicy tuna rolls are all real at this Palladio Shopping Center restaurant where Blue Nami once was.
Chipotle Mexican Grill (7450 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove): This popular build-your-own burrito chain opened its new Elk Grove location with a “Chipotlane,” or drive-thru, on Feb. 15.
Chocolate Bash (8304 Delta Shores Circle S., Suite 120, Sacramento): Look for cookies, ice cream and sweet takes such as “crepecuccini” (crepes cut in noodle-like ribbons and covered with Belgian chocolate) at this new dessert chain in south Sacramento’s Delta Shores shopping center.
Dave’s Hot Chicken (8810 Madison Ave., Fair Oaks): This Los Angeles-based hot chicken chain backed by a slew of celebrities debuted its third area location on Feb. 24 in Madison Marketplace shopping center.
Dì Kitchen (6829 Stockton Blvd., Suite 395, Sacramento): You’ll find homey dishes such as cơm cháy kho quẹt (scorched rice with carmelized pork belly) or Spam bánh mì chảo at this Vietnamese restaurant and boba shop in a popular Little Saigon shopping center.
Dunkin’ (5625 Florin Road, Sacramento): New England’s beloved, prolific doughnut chain brought its Boston Kremes and coffees to the Florin Road/65th Street intersection, across the street from Krispy Kreme.
Flow State Coffee (611 16th St., Sacramento): Ashley Borges and Kaylee Fisher’s Boulevard Park cafe features Camellia Coffee Roasters beans and pastries from Starter Bakery in Berkeley.
In-N-Out Burger (7620 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove): Double-doubles, animal-style fries and chocolate shakes are on the menu at California’s favorite fast food chain, which just opened its second Elk Grove drive-thru.
Jang Su Korean Tofu & BBQ (3643 Bradshaw Road, Suite J, Sacramento): Dive into Korean classics such as haemul pajeon (seafood scallion pancake) or yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) at this new restaurant near Rosemont.
Julian’s Pastry Nouveau (1490 Eureka Road, Suite 170, Roseville): Julian Perrigo-Jimenez and Bailey Hall opened their Roseville bakery on Feb. 15, though scratch-made cinnamon rolls, cream puffs and other items will still be made at the original Julian’s Patisserie and Cafe in Folsom.
La Capital Latin Cuisine (1535 N St., Sacramento): Downtown Sacramento’s newest restaurant is Sergio Fonseca’s Latin fusion cocktail bar where Antojo Street Taco Bar once was, with a food menu that includes corn “ribs,” tostadas and Sinaloan-style sushi.
OMG Cocina (1500 7th St., Unit 1F, Sacramento): Look for shrimp quesadillas, pork rib-and-cactus stew and arrachera tacos with mango salsa at Jalisco native Alejandro Aguirre Ruiz’s downtown Mexican restaurant.
Pizza Factory (6671 Blue Oaks Blvd., Suite 5, Rocklin): This Madera County-based pizza chain opened its sixth area location (most are on the Sacramento metropolitan area’s fringes) on Feb. 9.
Royal India (8680 Sierra College Blvd., Roseville): Renaissance Creek shopping center’s new North Indian restaurant whips up familiar soul-warmers such as bhindi masala, dal makhani and saag paneer.
Sit Lo Saigon (424 G St., Davis): Mymy Nguyen’s contemporary Vietnamese concept, which counts midtown Sacramento’s Saigon Alley as a sister concept, landed in downtown Davis after first launching in Elk Grove.
T&5 Bakery Cafe (195 Blue Ravine Road, Suite 100, Folsom): A Hong Kong-inspired dessert cafe with an original location in south Sacramento, T&5 has a variety of cakes as well as boba drinks and coconut puddings.
The Habit Burger Grill (1940 Blue Oaks Blvd., Roseville): Southern California-inspired burgers such as the Teriyaki Char (features a grilled pineapple ring sitting atop charbroiled beef) or Santa Barbara Char (two patties with avocado and carmelized onions, served on sourdough toast) keep loyalists coming back to Habit.
West Coast Sourdough (1980 Blue Oaks Blvd., Roseville): This San Francisco-based sandwich shop opened its 12th area location with familiar options such as garlic turkey pesto, French dip or tuna salad.
