At least one person was arrested Sunday afternoon in connection with a shooting in south Sacramento's Delta Pointe neighborhood that left two victims hospitalized but expected to survive.

Multiple 911 calls from the 6300 block of Isthmus Court began deluging dispatch phone lines around 4:30 p.m., according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department media release. The callers said there had been a shooting and several people yelling in the street.

Deputies arrived to find two people bleeding from gunshot wounds and a crowd of people, several of whom were detained. The victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of their wounds, which are not considered life-threatening.

Early stages of the investigation saw deputies arrest at least one suspect and recover a firearm. Detectives continue to interview witnesses in hopes of determining a motive for the shootings.

The Sheriff's Department is asking anyone with information relating to the shooting to call (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
