A man found injured in a Sacramento apartment Monday afternoon has died of what was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Sacramento police.
The man, identified as 30-year-old Oscar Zavala, died Tuesday, according to the Sacramento County Coroner's Office website.
Officers were called to a Southside Park apartment in the 2100 block of 11th Street about 3:40 p.m. to assist Fire Department personnel on a medical aid call with suspicious circumstances. A man was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to an area hospital.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation to determine whether foul-play was involved. Sgt. Vance Chandler, police spokesman, said the injury was found to have been self-inflicted.
